India’s Crucial Manchester Test: Can They Level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy?

The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series is heading for a gripping conclusion, with England currently holding a 2-1 lead over India. This five-match Test series has been a thrilling ride so far. England kicked things off by successfully chasing down a massive target to take a 1-0 lead, but India quickly responded with a record-breaking victory to level the series. The drama continued at Lord’s, where England once again surged ahead after a captivating encounter.

Before to the important fourth Test match against England in Manchester, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 23, India is facing serious injury concerns. Two important players have already been ruled out of the pivotal match due to various illnesses.

India‘s Squad Faces Injury Problems

Unfortunately, Nitish Reddy’s tour has come to an end because of a left knee injury. Reddy played in the Birmingham and Lord’s Tests, the series’ opening two matches. Arshdeep Singh, a pace bowler, will also not be available for selection after cutting his bowling hand during a practice session. Arshdeep has not yet played in a Test match.

Due to an ankle problem, right-arm pacer Akash Deep is also uncertain. Akash Deep’s ten-wicket haul helped India win by 336 runs in Birmingham. Today, a decision regarding his participation is anticipated. Although he has continued to take wickets during training, Rishabh Pant is also dealing with a finger injury, which adds to the medical list.

The Availability of Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah’s verified availability provides confirmed relief. “Jassi (Bumrah) bhai will play only, that’s what we know for now,” explained Mohammed Siraj, a fast bowler. After making an appearance at Lord’s, Bumrah’s ability to play two straight Test matches was initially questioned due to workload management. But given the crucial nature of this match and the nine-day interval between the third and fourth Tests, the 31-year-old pacer is very likely to play in Manchester.

Potential Replacements and Debutants

The team management is considering their options for a replacement for Nitish Reddy. Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist-spinner, is becoming more and more popular because he would give the bowling attack more attacking variety. However, India may be tempted to bring back Shardul Thakur, who was benched following the series opener, given the prediction for rainy conditions in Manchester, which would favor fast bowlers.

Anshul Kamboj, a fast bowler for Haryana, may also make his Test debut. In addition to playing alongside MS Dhoni in the IPL and taking five wickets in two unofficial Test matches against the England Lions, the 24-year-old has had an incredible season. Kamboj might make his debut if Akash Deep is ruled out. Prasidh Krishna, who reportedly caused problems for India’s top hitters during a recent practice session, is another pace option for the tourists.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to start for India in the Manchester Test.
