On both Android and iOS devices, Google Photos is getting a significant AI update with a number of new features.
Google’s AI push is now available in the Photos app, where you can test out some of the company’s cool features for free. The Photos app, which is pre-installed on millions of Android and iPhone smartphones, makes the latest update accessible to all users.
In recent months, the company has provided users with a plethora of Gemini-powered features. Additionally, it has introduced video AI tools such as Veo 3, which was unveiled at the I/O 2025 back in May.
Create Video Clips in Seconds with Google Photos AI Update
Thanks to artificial intelligence, Google’s latest update for the Photos app will make it simple to turn your images into brief video clips. “Just select a picture from your gallery and choose from one of the two prompts,” Google advises. When you select the picture to turn into a video, these “subtle movements” and “I’m feeling lucky” appear on the screen. Currently, Google is making it accessible on iOS and Android for Photos users in the United States.
Create a 3D “Remix” of Pictures
Google is now enabling the creation of anime, sketches, and even 3D animations from your favorite photos, in addition to 6-second video clips.
In its post, Google states that users can “simply convert photos in their gallery into these kinds of images in seconds to share with their friends and family by selecting their favorite style.” Additionally, this feature is only available on Photos in the US, but it will be available on Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks.
In addition to these, a new Create tab will soon appear in the bottom bar next to Photos, Collections, and Search. The tool can be used to highlight videos, create collages out of photos, and more. Next month, Photos in the US will get the new tab.
Any image or video produced with these tools will have a visual watermark to help users distinguish it from an AI-generated or altered image, just like the majority of Google AI features.
