In April of last year, Jagdeep Dhankhar moved to the recently built Vice President Enclave on Church Road close to the Parliament House Complex.

After the unexpected move, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned as vice president on Monday, is scheduled to leave the Vice President Enclave shortly and turned down appointments from a number of opposition leaders.

According to India Today, which cited sources, Dhankhar began packing on Monday night after submitting a letter to President Droupadi Murmu announcing his resignation for health reasons. On Tuesday, the President accepted his resignation.

According to the report, a number of opposition leaders asked to meet with Dhankhar yesterday, including Sharad Pawar of the NCP (SP) and Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena (UBT). But the opposition leaders were unable to get the former vice president to agree to an appointment.

In April of last year, Dhankhar, 74, moved to the recently built Vice President Enclave on Church Road close to the Parliament House Complex.

Dhankhar will leave the VP Enclave even though his term ends in 2027, having lived there for about 15 months.

The Central Vista redevelopment plan included the construction of the VP Enclave, which houses the Vice President’s office and residence.

Both the opposition and the ruling party were taken aback by Dhankhar’s decision, which sparked a flurry of conjecture about whether it was more than just “to prioritise health care.”

Dhankhar is entitled to a government bungalow, according to a representative of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.

The official stated, “He (Dhankhar) will be offered a Type VIII bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi or another area.” Typically, national party presidents or senior Union ministers are given the Type VIII bungalow.
