Update on Rishabh Pant’s Injury: Possible “Metatarsal Fracture” Could Preclude Him From

Injury Update for Rishabh Pant: On Day 1 of the 4th Test match against England in Manchester, Rishabh Pant suffered a serious injury to his foot during a reverse sweep, forcing the medical staff to remove him from the field.

After being struck on the right boot, India’s wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant ended up in the hospital once more. In typical fashion, Pant opened the Manchester Test by pressing England with his unconventional shots on Wednesday. But while batting on a score of 37, Pant’s most recent impressive performance was cut short. Chris Woakes’ yorker was inside-edged by the wicketkeeper onto his right boot in a bold reverse sweep. The foot was bruised and swollen when the shoe was removed.

The medical staff had to remove Pant, who is typically regarded as a man with a high pain threshold, on a golf cart because he was unable to continue. Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India, presented a dire picture of Pant’s condition, stating that the injury does appear to be quite serious.

“I just saw him grimace there. He has a very high pain threshold, so it’s extremely serious when he grimaces in pain like that. “Overnight, it can only get worse,” Shastri stated on Sky Sports.

“No matter how much ice you apply, it can still be extremely sore when you wake up. All night long, he will be icing it. “Hopefully, it’s not a break or a crack,” he continued.

Ricky Ponting is crossing his fingers.

The legendary Ricky Ponting of Australia, who was close to Rishabh Pant during his time with the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, suspected a metatarsal injury because of the foot’s sudden swelling. Pant believes he might miss the entire game if the foot is really broken.

He barely touched the ground. Before the golf cart arrived, he rolled around for six or eight minutes. My concern was the swelling right away. “Metatarsals are tiny, delicate bones, and I’ve had a metatarsal injury myself,” Ponting said.

It doesn’t look good at all that he was unable to put any weight on it. He will be eliminated from the game if it breaks. They will make every effort to get him back out there if it isn’t. “I hope he doesn’t play any more reverse sweeps,” he continued.

“Considering the game’s circumstances as well, Shardul has performed admirably, but the Indian team may miss Rishabh’s style of play and the momentum he provides the most. “Someone who can exert pressure on the opposition,” Ponting remarked.

“I hope it’s not as serious as it looks, and Indian fans should keep their fingers crossed. India’s chances of winning this game and the rest of the series are severely damaged if he is sidelined for the rest of it,” he continued.

The great Michael Atherton of England also expressed his thoughts on Pant’s injury, stating that the wicket-keeper batsman might miss the rest of the series because it appears to be a serious one.

“It would be a huge blow to India and change the perspective of the day if he were to miss the game or the series. With that new ball due tomorrow, it is possible to knock India over fairly quickly. That 264 for four turns into 264 for five. He could alter the course of the game, though, if he bats again. Therefore, there is an unknown uncertainty. You don’t get carted off otherwise, so it appeared to be a pretty serious injury,” he said.
